Welcome to the CCRI

 

The CCRI is a pan-Canadian, multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional effort to develop a set of interrelated databases centered on data from the 1911, 1921, 1931, 1941 and 1951 Canadian censuses. These databases will then be joined to other databases that cover the periods from 1871 to 1901, and from 1961 to 2001. The result will be a new foundation for the study of social, economic, cultural and political change.

This web site will introduce you to our project, our team members and project partners; describe the research infrastructure that is being created and the research inquiries that will be possible because of it; and provide you with useful links to other significant census research projects. Please note that this is an ‘evolving’ site, and that changes and updates will occur as the project progresses.

Our Mission in this Website

Our mission in this site is threefold:

  • to provide information about the CCRI project;

  • to provide information about related census projects, particularly those addressing Canadian censuses; and

  • to serve as a resource for researchers interested in Canadian social history and Canadian censuses.
